Up to 1.5 million local government workers are set to walk out in a drawn out dispute with the Government over the Local Government Pension Scheme and retirement ages.
The strike on Tuesday 28th March will be the biggest single strike in British history since the general strike of 1926, and is only the beginning of a rolling programme of industrial action that could last through to the summer.
Unions strongly object to the removal of the option to retire at 60, which has been protected for other public sector workers such as the police, teachers, NHS and civil servants.
